Without giving too much away, I did appreciate the science (and pseudo-science) that was used to create an interesting story. Martin certainly seemed to have an adequate grasp of sci-fi to give this story a satisfying twist that drove the plot into the denouement. Depending on your tolerance of these elements, I can say that they’re at least naturally integrated with this novella. Martin elements were present: mainly, sex and violence. Granted, even though Nightflyers is science fiction, all of the notable George R.R. Nightflyers is a short novella by Martin that also seems to be hinging itself on the success of Game of Thrones, albeit in the science fiction genre instead of high fantasy.Ĭonsidering how verbose Martin can get with his works, it was almost refreshing to read a story that was so focused and short. In the time we’ll all have to wait until the next Song of Ice and Fire book comes out, there are other little stories from this author to satiate our appetite. Paired together to discuss the show, Eoin Macken ( The Night Shift) and Jodie Turner-Smith ( The Last Ship) talked about the appeal of being a part of Nightflyers.

The cast of the sci-fi series took part in a panel at the 2018 San Diego Comic Con as well as roundtable interviews with the press. Jeff Buhler adapted Martin’s novella and is the series’ showrunner. Author Martin serves as an executive producer along with Brian Nelson, Mike Cahill, Andrew McCarthy, Gene Klein, David Bartis, Doug Liman, Alison Rosenzweig, Michael Gaeta, Lloyd Ivan Miller, and Alice P. Martin novella and stars Eoin Macken, Jodie Turner-Smith, David Ajala, Gretchen Mol, Angus Sampson, Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, and Brían F. Episodes six through 10 will air one new episode per night beginning December 9th and ending on December 13th.

Episode one through five will air on consecutive nights beginning December 2nd through December 6th. Syfy’s new series Nightflyers launched on Sunday, Decemand will continue to air its 10 episode season over a 12 day period.
